The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Movie Review - Part II

Assalamualaikum,

I manage to 'allocate' time to watched Eclipse for the second time 2 weeks ago. It was worth it as I found out that I've missed a great deal of details the first time. I guess I was too distracted by the disappointment and a little angst. Later I learnt that Malaysia is showing an impaired version of Eclipse - I have a confirmation on GSC and TGV. The jumping and missing scene still annoyed me, but I manage to ignore it from my nerve.

I still saw Bella more in Eclipse [I don't know what's wrong with me], maybe a little more of Edward in some scenes. Me and Bella, it is a love-hate situation. I think I can understand the tiniest part of Rosalie's feeling -- not that I hate Bella and not that I favor her much. Oh! Didn't you think that Bella sort of looking like a vampire already? She did, to me.

Now, let's rewind and put together more details about our sweetheart, shall we? I'm going to write this on a list basis, so let's have fun!

The beginning scene -- Bella and Edward at their meadow. The second time I watched it, I feel kinda inappropriate to see Edward 'sniffing' Bella... like she's a dish. Yes, Bella did falls into that category, but to actually sees that on wide screen is not something I want to remember. Mr. Slade sort of losing the art there.

The Dartmouth College application incident did not make it to the movie. Instead, I did not remember college ever mentioned. Hmm... That is something. Maybe they keep it for Breaking Dawn? I was so eager to see Bella's effort and irritation while filling the form only to found out that it is the Dartmouth form. Hehehe.

Billy Black mentioned that the Quileute were shape shifters. This detail only mentioned in Breaking Dawn. I am not sure why the fact can't wait. No chance to see wolf-Jacob shrug on that fact. A great lost :p

"But I thought it was a good representation. It’s hard and cold. And it throws rainbows in the sunlight. My heart is just as silent. And it, too, is yours", says Edward when he gave Bella her hand-me-down heart shaped diamond. Edward's first expensive gift to Bella would be more meaningful if accompanied by this phrase.

Not just this phrase, there were many other phrases that could illustrate Edward-Bella relationship and would convinced audiences why Bella choose to give up mortality. For example: "If there were any way for me to become human for you — no matter what the price was, I would pay it"; or "And the sound of your heart. It’s the most significant sound in my world". I just think Eclipse should explain more on what drive Bella to love Edward more than anything in her life. There was less of Edward in New Moon and we need to remind the audience on how much Edward love Bella... just like Charlie :D

Edward and Jacob were just two human males in the camp scene, finally. Edward really sounded like Edward in this scene -- he is clearly more mature and thoughtful compare to Jacob. I am glad that this phrase made its way into the movie: "You know, Jacob, if it weren’t for the fact that we’re natural enemies and that you’re also trying to steal away the reason for my existence, I might actually like you". Of course, Jacob couldn't do the same :D

I supposed everybody love Angela's valedictorian speech. So here it is (source: http://www.pinkhues.com/2010/07/03/twilight-saga-eclipse-jessicas-valedictorian-speech/ )

"When we were five, they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Our answers were thing like astronaut, president, or in my case… princess.

When we were ten, they asked again and we answered – rock star, cowboy, or in my case, gold medalist. But now that we’ve grown up, they want a serious answer. Well, how ’bout this: who the hell knows?!

This isn’t the time to make hard and fast decisions, it’s time to make mistakes. Take the wrong train and get stuck somewhere chill. Fall in love – a lot. Major in philosophy ’cause there’s no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind. Then change it again, because nothing is permanent.

So make as many mistakes as you can. That way, someday, when they ask again what we want to be… we won’t have to guess. We’ll know."

In Twilight, they made Edward too gloomy. In New Moon they made him too hurting. In Eclipse they made him too angry... I wonder when they will see him as a charming 110 years old vampire with exquisite manners named Edward.

Already counting days to Breaking Dawn Part I. Rumors said the Pushing Daisies' guy to be Garret. Not a bad choice. Until next time and keep the dead heart warm.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Review Part I

Assalamualaikum,

I had a great time watching Eclipse last Friday.
I cried. For Bella. [Didn't really get the point why others cried for Edward... hmm]

"All the lives always tempted to trade. Will they hate me for all the choices I've made? Will they stop when they see me again? I can't stop now I know who I am..."

Since I was so distracted by the show's quality -- the movie was impaired by somebody, ok dear GSC! -- there's not much I can say for now [Would it be ridiculous if I spend my time and money watching Eclipse at different cinema?] But yes, I love every bit of it including 3 scenes I know I hate. Hehehe. So, how would I start this review thingy? Erm.

Let start with... there's no wedding dress in Eclipse! It was a major disappointment for 'Aini. Now I have to wait. I hate waiting. But since the movie was so great, I'm going to let that pass. I was so surprise that nobody mention this. None. Not even one review [that I read] said that Summit keeps the wedding dress for Breaking Down. Tricky!

Edward is there, yes. [After all, he is the [personal] center of the universe for us all] But I saw Bella more in Eclipse. Eclipse is Bella. [This is where the crying part comes] Every time Howard Shore's Wedding Plans score and Metric's All Yours accompany Bella's thoughts, Eclipse became personal to me. I can't recall all scenes, but I was mostly sad for Bella-Renee, Bella-Charlie and graduation scenes -- L.O.V.E. the speech. Those were [almost] accurate representation of a human's life. In Bella's case, things she choose to leave. [Rosalie's "but you're choosing wrong" rings in my ears. Sigh]

I did not favor 3 scenes, as mention earlier. #1 would be Bella-Jacob kissing scene; #2 would be the camp scene and #3 is the at school scene after Edward and Bella got back from Florida... the scene where Bella thrashed Edward and leave with Jacob, on his bike.

That wasn't something possible for Bella, if you know what I mean. In addition, Bella greeted Jacob with a "hey you" tone. We read Bella and that wasn't something you read out of her. When given careful thought, I find that scene very normal and natural. Kristen Stewart is Bella in flesh and blood. When Bella scold Edward in latter scene, I find it hard to swallow -- how could she! But again, that's what normal human would react. So again, thumbs up for Kristen!

There's nothing to say about the Bella-Jacob kissing scene [not that anybody have anything to say about it] and there was something about the camp scene. The conversation between Edward and Jacob was as I pictured in the book. It was heart melting to see Edward sitting at the corner of the tent, answering Jacob's question. Yes, how Edward would trade anything to take Jacob's place.

As much as I like the baseball scene in Twilight, I find the fight training scene very much captivating. Unkle's With You in My Head was just the right song for this scene. But song would mean nothing without Jasper and his skills. If Edward dazzled, Jasper charmed. Especially for Jasper-Alice part -- it was so romantic and sweet. They definitely doesn't need a to-be-cut scene to show their affection :p

And... last but not least, the final meadow scene. I do agree, Wedding Plans score was the best background music for this scene. Bella made her decision.

"Now I'm all yours, I'm not afraid. And you're all mine, say what they may. And all your love I'll take to a grave. And all my life starts now. "

"Tear me down they can't take you out of my thoughts. Under every scar there’s a battle I’ve lost. Will they stop when they see us again? I can’t stop now I know who I am."

Oh ya. The original soundtrack was all Eclipse-ish. My favourite: ALL! I'd like to congratulate the production team; I have to say David Slade has done a great job with Eclipse. Everybody loves you, darling! To Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson [I keep on stumble his name as Robert Cullen] and Taylor Lautner: the saga has become a part of you.

That's about everything.
Now let's cross check my expectation with the end product.

[/] The Proposal Scene.
It was marvelous and breath taking. Sia's My Love was perfect background music. The scene was made simple -- maybe because of the cut -- but as long as my favorite dialogue was there it was acceptable.

[/] The Wedding Ring.
Not much surprise as it was introduced in the trailer. I imagined it older. Acceptable.

[X] The Wedding Dress.
The wedding dress has to wait (T_T)

[/] Edward - Jacob argument after Bella broke her hand.
They changed this scene and the most anticipated dialogue did not make it. Sigh. I hated that Edward was pictured full of anger. I think it is okay if Bella act human, but Edward... he's not human and I want him to be Edward.

[/] Edward's bed.
Errr.. (*_*)

[/] Jasper's story.
I find his story as interesting as in the book. I don't know why, but after watching Eclipse I finally understand why Jasper was important to Maria. Maria needed him for his ability to control emotion. Of course.

[/] Bella - Edward visiting Renee.
It's something that Renee said and the way Bella flinch silently to it that touched my heart. I can't remember the exact words, but it was sort of: "Didn't you missed all this, to have vitamin D soak into your skin...". Ya, Bella definitely going to miss that. At the background, Edward was seen unease.

[-] Bella - Jacob kissing scene the shortest.
I closed my eyes.

Pull Doors

Assalamulaikum.

For some people, this is just a small not-even-an-issue in their life. But it does to me. So these are the 5 reasons why I don't prefer pull doors. [I tried to make it to 10, but it would sound ridiculous than it already has (^_^)v]

1. I have to touch and hold the door handle. That is filthy. Push doors are better because they come in bar instead of handle. Minimal physical contact.
2. The door can be too heavy for me and I can end up looking like a weak girl :p Oh yes, I have had that experience. Hate it!
3. People might have to stop behind me and wait for me to open the door and walk through it. So inconvenient. At least I have concern on that.
4. The fact that I was having difficulty to differentiate "Pull" and "Push" properly. [WAS, ok~] And yes, I have had that experience, too.
5. The door might hit my toe. Ok... this is just a possibility. But it could happen :p

I'd like to suggest more push doors!

Paul Octo and a Spanish Dream Come True

Assalamualaikum,

Per known to the whole world, Spain beats Germany in 2010 FIFA World Cup Semi Final with 1-0 this morning. [Big O.U.C.H] This winning not only a dream comes true for Spain; it also brightens Paul Octo's credibility as a psychic. [As a Muslim, we ought to believe that the results were nothing foreseen by the octopus, it's all fate and hard work.]

The game was intense. Both team wanted to win to gain a step closer to the cup. I had series of near-heart attack while watching the game. Spain was all determine and driven by the fact that if they wins, this will be their first time in FIFA World Cup Final. As adrenaline pumps in both teams, Spain's motivation was undeniably more powerful compare to a forth-time winning aimed by Germany.

Whether or not Paul chose Spain over Germany, with skills shown this morning, it was an earned winning. It breaks my heart when Germany lost, but Spain really was a worthy opponent. Instead of threatening a baby octopus, Germany might want to speed up the post mortem on the team itself. Yes, it is almost stupid to blame an octopus. Hahaha. There's always something -- either you don't play it well enough or your opponent play better.

I'd like to congratulate Germany's goal keeper, Mr. Manuel Neuer. He did a great job. If not for his skill, Germany might be beaten up more than one goal. To Mr. Carles Puyol, you rocks dude! Though Germany's players were higher, Puyol manage to leap over his fellow team mate and score with his header. Thanks to our Man of the Match Xavi for his corner kick. What a goal!

Oh! And I have serious issue with the referee -- Mr. Viktor Kassai of Hungrary. He is so stingy. Mesut Ozil deserves a free kick if not a penalty. Not only Ozil, there were cases in both teams that I think could be a card or a free kick -- no card at all! Mr. FIFA President, I thought we have discussed about this oddity??

Spain will meet Netherlands in final. A fact, both teams are first timer in FIFA World Cup Final. I can't wait to see the game. [After Italy goes home, I am not a supporter to any team. It's just a preference plus statistics] I foresee Spain can win this 2010 World Cup if they play as good as this morning.

David Villa and Wesley Sneijder are securing the Golden Boots award and I am sure both will want to score more. It will be an interesting battle to watch! I just hope that this Golden Boots thing will not ruin the game.

I wonder if Paul will survive today, with menus of him spread across the globe (^_^) If he survived, I'd want to know what is his prediction over Spain - Netherlands match.
Wassalam.

Rumah Titian Kasih

Assalamualaikum,

They were crying and that broke my heart into pieces.

Being Bella

Assalamualaikum,

Metric revealed their music video of "Eclipse (All Yours)" for Twilight Saga: Eclipse OST yesterday on MySpace. The song was so Bella!

"When speaking of the song's formulation, Haines revealed that it was written by the band as a reflection of the emotions they thought Bella might be experiencing during the final scene of the film - when Bella and Edward discuss their future in the meadow." -Twilight Examiner-

I know Bella was [almost?] insignificant for Twilight Saga's fans. It was always about Edward or Jacob or Jasper or Alice; never Bella. If you ask me, the main reason is the fact that Edward love Bella and Bella acted so [damn, oops!] human. I can't stand her attitude towards Edward when I [and thousands more girl] would just throw myself at him. Hahaha!
I know there are girls who would willingly change their name to Isabella Swan, or use Bella as their nickname. But that’s all because Edward Cullen love a human girl named Isabella “Bella” Swan and the fact that “Bella Cullen” sounds so lovely.

But it is about Bella.
The Saga itself evolves around Bella.
Go ask Edward if you find it hard to believe me.

Life is not only about a guy, even if the guy is Edward Cullen. No girl should ever make any decision out of love for a guy, even if the guy is Edward Cullen. It takes 3 books/movies for Bella to finally make up her mind and another one book for her to be sure and realize that she made a correct decision.

In life, decisions were made on daily basis. For each decision, nobody gets all. Somebody will have to let go or lost something in return. Thus, it is so inappropriate and immature for anybody to make careless decision over a huge sacrifice -- like being a vampire, for an example. If I were Bella, I'd consider it over and over again. It was Edward Cullen, yes. But what about my family and friends? Is it worth to lose all? [Please don't answer this question]

I am still to figure out who is the lucky person -- Bella [middle aged daughter, per Renee] for finding Edward [an old soul], or Edward for finding Bella. But we all know what Bella and Edward would say :p

Have I mention that I am a fan of Bella Swan?
Her shoes were warm and comfortable, not that bad.

"It all begins ... With a choice"

Wassalam.

All Yours

All the lives always tempted to trade
Will they hate me for all the choices I’ve made?
Will they stop when they see me again?
I can’t stop now I know who I am

Now I’m all yours, I’m not afraid
And you're all mine, say what they may
And all your love I’ll take to the grave
And all my life starts now

Tear me down they can't take you out of my thoughts
Under every scar there’s a battle I’ve lost
Will they stop when they see us again?
I can’t stop now I know who I am

Now I’m all yours, I’m not afraid
And you're all mine, say what they may
And all your love I’ll take to the grave
And all my life starts
